Follow a real product question
Choose a representative product and a plausible first-time buyer. Can the visitor tell what it is, whom it suits, what it costs and how to choose a variant? Look for information that has been pushed into an accordion, separated from the selector or replaced by a vague slogan. This is a review scenario, not a claim about customer behaviour; compare it with actual support questions, search terms and usability observations where available.
Inspect the detail behind the image
Campaign photography creates desire, but a purchase may depend on shade, finish, dimensions, quantity or application detail. Map each question to an image, short demonstration or precise piece of copy. Shopify’s media documentation explains the supported product media types; it does not establish that every product needs every format. Commission only the assets that resolve a gap in the buying decision and verify them in the live template.
Test the offer and checkout together
On a phone, select a variant, add it to the basket and follow the route toward payment. Check stock messages, shipping information, currency, discount behaviour and the visibility of return information. Use approved test arrangements to complete a transaction. Record the step and device when something fails, rather than writing “improve checkout” as a recommendation. Separate a website issue from a payment, inventory or fulfilment dependency.
Reconcile events with orders
A button click is not an order. Google Analytics documents ecommerce events such as viewing items, adding to a cart, purchasing and refunding, but they need correct implementation. Compare agreed test transactions with the commerce system and check consent behaviour. Establish the period, traffic source and revenue definition before interpreting a funnel. Small samples and changes in promotion or stock can make a design change look more decisive than it is.
Buy the smallest coherent improvement
Rank observed problems by customer impact, evidence and effort. A product template correction may be more useful than a complete rebuild; a broken platform dependency may justify a larger project. SOCELLE’s commerce work starts with that distinction. Bring the current platform, representative products, customer questions and access to the agreed measurement sources so the resulting scope addresses the actual purchasing journey.
The working checklist
- Representative mobile product-to-checkout journey
- Missing product and offer information
- Asset and platform dependencies
- Validated purchase and refund measurement
- Prioritized fixes with a named owner
